Share the Care Motorcycle RideSunday, September 30th, 2012 was the 4th Share the Care Ride for Breast Cancer Action Kingston, and although mother nature obviously doesn't ride a motorcycle, and cursed us with overcast skies and rain, the kindness of our supporters shone through with over 60 riders (and drivers) taking the time to join us this year! This year registration took place on Fort Henry hill at the new Discovery Centre. From there riders took a scenic ride into Gananoque and stopped to try their paint ball shooting skills at Ground Zero. Our second poker stop was “the WURST PLACE TO EAT” in Lyndhurst - Petras's place, a popular local food truck. Then the riders headed back towards Kingston and their last stop was Garlic Fields in Elginburg. The wrap up took place at RAXX Bar and Grill. Riders enjoyed a meal provided by RAXX, played pool, and took part in the Chinese Auction which had wonderful prizes donated by local businesses. A special thank you has to be made to Josh Anderson who raised $6,330.00 this year. Josh himself has raised over $12,000.00 for BCAK in the last three years. Honourable mention also goes to Sam Bruce-Moore who raised $845.00, Joey Gardiner $510.00, Maris Maldernis $400.00, Robin D. $339.00 and Jim Potts $260.00. Many people came together to make this event a success: Jimmy Roumani, RAXX Bar and Grill; Marc Beaudoin, Ground Zero; Petra's “Wurst Place to Eat”, Petra's Place in Lyndhurst; Joannie and Bernie Karschau, Garlic Fields; Celebrity Signs; Ted Baxby, Attention Getters; Lisa Ray, K-Rock 105.7; Junior Greer, LC Cycles; Kayla Napier, Fort Henry Discovery Centre. Volunteers are an integral part of any event and so we extend a big thank you to all those who helped us along the way and on the day of the event. Debbie and I could not organize such a big event without a special team of people who worked tirelessly again this year. Lucie Neron, Dan Thibodeau and Jacqui Fitzgerald joined with us and made this event another success raising $12,448.00 for Breast Cancer Action Kingston.
